CRIMINAL RECORDS BUREAU Disclosure Checks
The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) has implemented a disclosure service to provide criminal record checks for all persons who come into contact through their work with children, the elderly or other vulnerable people. Having such a check will help if a therapist is looking to work in such areas. It may also go a long way to reassure clients that the therapist is trustworthy and will be seen as an attribute when included within a CV.
As an individual can no longer obtain a check on their own behalf (they must either go through an employer's Human Resources department or, if self-employed, belong to a professional organisation which is registered with a CRB umbrella body), the GHR has entered into an agreement with an appropriate umbrella body which now permits this facility.
Any GHR practitioner who requires this service should contact our HQ for information on how to proceed.
